Police Conduct Special Inspection of Firearms and Explosives Establishments... "In Preparation for Presidential Election"
The National Police Agency announced on the 27th that it had conducted a special inspection of 1,433 nationwide establishments handling firearms and explosives, as well as locations where explosives are used, ahead of the 21st presidential election.
This special inspection was carried out nationwide for about four weeks starting at the end of April, in order to verify the safe use and management of firearms and explosives during the election period. A total of 207 deficiencies were identified.
Of the 207 violations, 135 were corrected on site, 71 required repairs or reinforcement, and 1 resulted in administrative action. Most of the issues were minor and were immediately addressed through on-site corrective measures.

An official from the National Police Agency stated, "Through this special inspection, we were able to comprehensively review the management status of firearms and explosives and eliminate risk factors in advance. We expect this will help prevent related accidents during the presidential election period."
