This inspection will prioritize sites where major facilities are concentrated among solar power plants in the Jeollanam-do region that have an ESS installation capacity of 1 MWh or more.
Kang Sanggu, Director of the Energy Industry Bureau of Jeollanam-do, stated, "Through on-site inspections, we have confirmed that the safety systems for energy storage system facilities are well established and that anticipated risk factors are being effectively addressed." He also urged, "All sites should not only implement state-of-the-art monitoring to prepare for unforeseen accidents, but also conduct regular safety inspections of their facilities."
Meanwhile, Jeollanam-do plans to continuously strengthen inspections of solar power plants equipped with energy storage systems, and will promote electrical facility safety management and fire prevention training in cooperation with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation.
