View original imageAt around 6:29 PM on the 4th, a sinkhole accident occurred at an intersection near Daemyeong Elementary School in Myeongil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
The large sinkhole, approximately 20 meters in diameter, caused the collapse of 4 out of 6 lanes on the road.
One motorcyclist was confirmed to have fallen into the sinkhole, and rescue operations are underway. Additionally, one car driver who passed through the area just before the collapse was injured and transported to a hospital.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government shared the situation with Gangdong District Office and Seoul Eastern Road Office at around 6:32 PM and dispatched teams to the site to assess the situation.
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon urged, "Please do your best in rescue efforts and safety measures around the area to prevent any casualties due to the ground collapse."

The mayor added, "As the sinkhole is growing in size, there is concern about secondary accidents during the rescue process, so please ensure utmost safety during the operations."
