National Pukyong University Liberal Arts Freshmen to Attend Orientation of Desired Department!
Full-scale Major Exploration Begins...
Non-curricular Program Operated at the Proposal of the Student Council
Can freshmen who entered university without a declared major participate in the semester opening general meeting?
If they can participate, which department's opening meeting should they attend?
National Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) has attracted attention by introducing a non-curricular program that allows freshmen of the newly established Interdisciplinary Studies Department to attend the opening general meeting of the department of their choice, following a proposal from the student council this year.
Led by the Office of Educational Innovation (Director Won Yongseon), Pukyong National University launched the 'Semester Opening General Meeting (Department Orientation)' as a non-curricular program for the first time this spring semester, operating it from the first to the second week of March.
Until now, the opening general meeting has been an event where each department's student council and freshmen exchange information and build camaraderie. However, with the launch of this non-curricular program, students in the Interdisciplinary Studies Department who have not yet chosen a major can freely attend the opening general meeting of any department they are interested in.
A total of 36 departments and majors participated in this inaugural non-curricular opening general meeting program, and 283 freshmen from the Interdisciplinary Studies Department applied to participate. As long as the schedules did not overlap, students were allowed to attend two or three meetings, broadening their opportunities to explore different majors.
