In particular, starting from the 24th, inspections and guidance on human rights violations against foreigners working in the maritime and fisheries sectors will be conducted on ships and fish farms in the areas of Mokpo, Muan, Jindo, and Shinan.
The main inspection items include ▲illegal employment and brokerage of undocumented foreigners ▲crimes such as assault and threats exploiting illegal residency status ▲failure of employers to enroll foreign workers in mandatory insurance.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, “For the protection of foreign human rights, any illegal acts identified during this inspection will be strictly dealt with in accordance with relevant laws,” and added, “We ask for active reporting from victims and witnesses.”
