Stepping Up as Problem Solvers
On the 6th, the Odong-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, carried out a cleaning volunteer activity for a household damaged by fire, along with about 50 people including staff and community leaders.
On this day, volunteers cleaned up the fire debris inside the household that was completely destroyed by the fire on February 24th and tidied the surrounding area.
Song Gyeon-bok, president of the Community Leaders Association, said, “I felt sorry for the neighbors who suffered from the sudden fire. Since it seemed difficult for the elderly household with financial difficulties to recover from the fire, the members decided to help. We hope they can return to a peaceful daily life in their clean home.”
Choi Kyung-cheol, head of Odong-dong, said, “I thank the members of the Community Leaders Association who took precious time and actively helped as if it were their own work in the cold weather. The administration will also actively support so that the affected person can return to daily life as soon as possible.”
The resident who lost their home in the fire said, “I was at a loss because I lost my home in an instant due to the fire accident and could not take any action for fire recovery, but I am very grateful for the great help from those around me.”
