On the 5th, it was announced that Jinju City’s tourism character ‘Hamo’ has advanced to the Violet Festival in Tourrettes, France.
The Violet Festival (F?te des Violettes) in Tourrettes, held over two days from March 1st to 2nd, is a festival with a 73-year history. It is a historic festival that introduces the village’s history and heritage through the violet flower symbolizing Tourrettes. The theme of the 2025 festival is Korea, chosen based on the sister city exchange agreement for cultural, tourism, and educational exchanges signed last year between Jinju City and Tourrettes.

A Jinju City official said, “We are very pleased to be able to showcase the charm of Hamo and Jinju to the world through this festival exhibition,” and added, “We will continue to strive to widely promote Jinju and Jinju tourism through various promotions using Hamo.”

Meanwhile, Tourrettes is the area where the studio ‘Eunhasu’ of Lee Sung-ja, a painter from Jinju designated last year by the French government as a ‘notable modern architectural work,’ is located. Based on this, Jinju City and Tourrettes signed a sister city exchange agreement for cultural, tourism, and educational exchanges in July last year and have been actively exchanging since then.
