Replacement of Aging Elevator at Geumcheon-gu Seoksu Station Pedestrian Overpass
Elevators at Seoksu Station Pedestrian Overpass to Be Replaced with New Models Starting in February
Elevators Installed in 2009 Have Reached the End of Their Service Life
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will replace three elevators installed at Seoksu Station and the pedestrian overpass at Seoksu Station with new ones.
The elevators on the pedestrian overpass at Seoksu Station, completed in 2009, have become outdated after 14 years. Residents using the elevators have experienced inconvenience due to frequent malfunctions caused by vibrations from heavy vehicle traffic and water leakage.
The district plans to replace the three elevators on the pedestrian overpass at Seoksu Station with new models, increasing the maximum capacity from 11 passengers to 12 passengers. The construction will take place over approximately three months starting from February this year.
During the construction, it will be difficult to use the overpass elevators, so users will be guided to use the crosswalk under the overpass. However, for those with mobility difficulties such as wheelchair users and pregnant women, staff on site will assist to minimize inconvenience.
A district official stated, “Although the operation of the overpass elevators will be suspended during the construction period causing some inconvenience, we ask for users’ understanding and cooperation for safer and more convenient passage.”
The elevator replacement work is being carried out with support from Seoul City along with painting work on the pedestrian overpass. The painting work was completed in December last year.
