Gyeonggi-do Supports Unemployed Youth with 300,000 KRW for Language and Certification Exam Fees
Gyeonggi Province is continuing the ‘Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project’ this year, following last year, to support language and qualification exam fees for unemployed youth.
This project is part of the 8th term Youth Opportunity Package, with 30 cities and counties participating except Seongnam City, which runs its own program. Applicants can apply for exam fees up to 300,000 KRW per person without restrictions on last year’s support status, number of exam attempts, or number of applications.
The support targets unemployed youth residing in Gyeonggi Province as of the application date, who fall within the youth age range defined by city and county ordinances. Short-term workers employed for less than one year are considered unemployed, and applicants must be unemployed as of the exam date regardless of employment status at the time of application.
The supported fields include 19 types of language exams, 1 Korean history exam, 539 national technical qualifications, 360 national professional qualifications, and 98 publicly authorized private qualifications, totaling 1,017 types. Exam fees from December of last year through November of this year are covered.
Gyeonggi Province has expanded support to cover all national professional qualification categories to allow more youth to benefit, adding 108 types compared to last year. However, among national professional qualifications, only one special license type of the automobile driver’s license is supported.
Applicants participating in similar programs such as the National Employment System, central government information, or other institutions (local governments, schools, academies, etc.) are excluded from support. However, for the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s ‘Youth National Technical Qualification Exam Fee Support Project,’ support is available only for the applicant’s personal expense portion.
