Changwon Special City Implements Various Work Condition Improvements for Employees
Continuing Efforts to Become a City
Where Employees Are Happier Through Enhanced Welfare
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is promoting various policies under the banner of creating a city where employees are happy.
Recently, in particular, the city has been focusing on providing customized benefits for employees, such as granting a deferral period for long-term service leave to public officials on parental leave and increasing overtime pay for frontline public officials working in a 24-hour continuous shift system.
Regarding the deferral period for long-term service leave, the local government official appointment ordinance was recently revised to include the entire parental leave period in the calculation of continuous service. As a result, some public officials on parental leave faced the issue of losing their entitlement to long-term service leave granted based on their length of service.
In response, the city decided to grant a certain deferral period to employees whose leave has already expired or is about to expire, providing them with an opportunity to recharge.
Additionally, considering the actual working conditions of frontline public officials who maintain a 24-hour continuous shift system, the maximum allowable overtime hours for overtime pay will be increased from 55 hours to 67 hours. This measure strengthens the compensation system for the labor burden experienced by frontline public officials who must work in shifts at facilities such as sewage pumping stations and water supply operation centers. It is expected to enhance work efficiency and boost morale among frontline public officials through appropriate compensation.
The city expects that these work innovations will simultaneously improve employees' job satisfaction and efficiency, which will ultimately serve as a foundation for providing better administrative services to citizens.
