Cheonan City to Launch Walking Assistance Program Using Wearable Robots
Utilizing WeRobotics' "WIM"
Cheonan City in Chungnam Province announced on the 24th that it will launch a gait assistance program utilizing wearable robots during the first half of this year.
This program has been designed to improve the health of vulnerable groups.
The program will use 'WIM', an ultra-lightweight wearable robot developed by the local promising startup WeRobotics.
WIM assists the user's waist and joint movements, reducing the impact experienced when moving on slopes or stairs, and is also known to help strengthen muscles.
It weighs 1.6 kg and can be used continuously for two hours on a full charge. It is also equipped with an automatic charging function.
Lee Yongmi, head of the Healthy Living Team, said, "Since the program mainly targets seniors, we expect to begin full-scale implementation once the weather warms up," adding, "We are still reviewing the budget and the number of units to be introduced."
