Trump: "Necessary for Greenland's security... Confident Denmark will join as well"
U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 20th (local time) regarding Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, "We need Greenland for international security."
President Trump made this remark during an executive order signing ceremony held at the White House that day, stating, "I am confident that Denmark will cooperate."
He said, "Denmark incurs great costs to maintain Greenland," and added, "The people of Greenland are not happy with Denmark. They would be happy if they were with us."
Referring to his eldest son's recent visit to Greenland, he said, "They like us." He also stated, "Greenland is necessary for international security. There are Chinese ships and warships around it."
