Chief Judge Cha Eun-kyung of the Seoul Western District Court, who issued the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, is under police protection.
According to Yonhap News on the 19th, Chief Judge Cha requested police protection after being assigned to preside over President Yoon's pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) on the 17th.
At around 2:50 a.m. on the 19th, Chief Judge Cha issued the arrest warrant, stating that "there is a concern that the suspect may destroy evidence." This is the first case in constitutional history where a sitting president has been arrested.
