In response to the anticipated increase in unpaid wages due to the recent economic downturn in Korea, the city will extend the operation hours of its labor counseling center until 8 p.m. for one week to handle urgent wage-related complaints.
During the focused counseling period, certified labor attorneys will provide in-depth consultations, mediate wage disputes, and introduce government relief programs such as living expense loans for workers whose wages have been delayed, to help stabilize their livelihoods.
Additionally, the city plans to promote support programs for business owners, such as loan programs for employers struggling to pay wages due to the economic recession.
Lee Kanghwan, head of the city’s Corporate Development Division, stated, “We will work closely with the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s dedicated wage arrears reporting center to resolve wage delay issues,” and added, “We will do our best to support labor counseling for local workers to ensure they can enjoy a warm Lunar New Year holiday with their families.”
Meanwhile, the labor counseling center located inside the Dangjin City Public Bus Terminal continues to provide free consultations with certified labor attorneys and is making every effort to protect and promote the labor rights of local residents.
