Goseong-gun Attracts Over 150 Teams for Winter Training Camps... Expected to Boost Local Economy
Over 3,000 Athletes Gather in Goseong-gun for Winter Training Camps Covering Eight Sports Nationwide
Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is hosting over 150 teams and 3,000 athletes from eight different sports nationwide for winter training camps, preparing their dreams for the year on green grass fields, sand courts, volleyball courts, and baseball stadiums.
This training camp includes athletes from various sports such as soccer with 30 teams and 1,240 participants, volleyball with 4 teams and 87 participants, taekwondo with 30 teams and 489 participants, ssireum with 60 teams and 671 participants, weightlifting with 11 teams and 120 participants, swimming with 4 teams and 57 participants, basketball with 8 teams and 170 participants, and baseball with 5 teams and 140 participants, all working up a sweat.
From January 2 to 12, training camps for soccer, swimming, and ssireum were held successfully. △ Soccer (elementary) 16 teams, 670 participants △ Swimming (elementary) 3 teams, 43 participants △ Ssireum (elementary) 21 teams, 198 participants took part in the training camps.
Currently, the county is hosting training camps for △ Soccer (high school and college) 15 teams, 570 participants △ Ssireum (middle school, high school, college, and professional) 39 teams, 473 participants △ Weightlifting (professional and high school) 2 teams, 30 participants △ Volleyball (Yangsan City Hall) 10 participants.
More training camps for various sports will continue to maintain the sports enthusiasm. △ Basketball training camp from January 20 to 25 △ Taekwondo training camp from February 1 to 5 △ Volleyball training camp from February 13 to 26 △ Archery training camp from February 19 to 21 will be held consecutively, heating up the sports town.
In line with this, the county is providing various incentives to enhance the satisfaction of training teams and increase their intention to revisit, including △ discounts on public sports facility usage fees △ medical support utilizing the Goseong Base Center for Gyeongnam Sports Industry Promotion △ transportation convenience such as operating support buses for athlete groups △ free admission to local tourist attractions △ operation of stove league, among others.
County Governor Sang-geun Lee said, “We will spare no support to ensure that athletes have the best time in Goseong-gun,” adding, “We will also revitalize the local economy through policies linking sports and tourism.”
