Gwanak-gu Traditional Market Filled with Lunar New Year Events
▲ Discounts on Ritual Items ▲ Gift Certificates and Prize Giveaways ▲ Sharing Events: Market-Specific Events Held
Parking Enforcement Relaxed, Free Public Parking Lots Opened: Enhanced Convenience for Traditional Market Visitors
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) has teamed up with 15 traditional markets and alleyway shopping districts to create a happy Lunar New Year holiday for both residents and small business owners.
The district has allocated a total budget of 109 million KRW to support Lunar New Year events that highlight the unique characteristics of each traditional market and alleyway shopping district.
▲ Up to 20% discount on ritual items ▲ Gift certificates and prize giveaways based on purchase amounts ▲ Cultural performances ▲ Sharing events with neighbors, providing residents with abundant benefits and attractions.
In particular, at the Gangnam Alley Market, a ‘Tteokguk (rice cake soup) ready meal’ will be given to elderly individuals living alone who visit the market, and at Bongcheon Jeil General Market, a ‘Warmth Sharing Event’ will offer warm tea to customers who make purchases.
Details such as event periods and discount benefits for each market can be confirmed by contacting the respective market merchant associations.
Additionally, the district has prepared measures to alleviate parking difficulties expected due to increased visitors at traditional markets during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Temporary parking and stopping zones will be designated on roads near Gwanak Jungbu Market. Other traditional markets will ease parking enforcement on nearby roads or operate flexible parking systems.
The Shinwon-dong No. 1 Public Parking Lot and Samsung-dong No. 1 Public Parking Lot, which are close to the markets, will be opened free of charge.
Working with private experts, the district will inspect fire, electrical, and gas facilities within the markets to prevent fires and various safety accidents, striving to create a safe environment for residents.
Alongside this, on the 14th, the district issued Gwanak Love Gift Certificates worth 20 billion KRW to stimulate local consumption and revitalize commercial districts.
Residents can enjoy up to a 10% discount through a payback event that offers a 5% discount at purchase and a 5% refund on the amount used.
