FedEx Korea, First Introduction of Electric Delivery Vehicles
Six Hyundai ST1 Vehicles to Be Introduced First, with Plans for Further Expansion
FedEx, the world's largest express delivery company, is introducing electric vehicles for domestic delivery.
On the 14th, FedEx Korea announced that it will introduce Hyundai Motor Company's first Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV), the all-electric cargo truck ST1, for delivery operations in Seoul and Busan. They plan to start with six vehicles and add more later. The vehicle has a payload capacity of 1 ton and a maximum driving range of 317 km on a full charge. Compared to diesel vehicles, it is expected to reduce approximately 7 metric tons (MT) of emissions per vehicle annually.
This is a measure to achieve FedEx's goal of reducing carbon emissions domestically and operating carbon-neutral by 2040. FedEx plans to transition to zero-emission pickup and delivery vehicles by 2040.
