Na Hoon-a's Harsh Words "Left, Did You Do Well?"... Jeonnam Governor Says "No Equivocation Allowed"
"Impeachment of Yoon is Not a Left-Right Issue, but a Historic Task"
Kim Wonhee Criticizes, "Na Hoon-a, Quite a Funny Guy"
Singer Na Hoon-a harshly criticized the politically divided factions over the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol, prompting Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok to criticize, saying, "We must not dilute the issue with false equivalence."
According to political circles on the 12th, Governor Kim stated on his Facebook page the day before, "Singer Na Hoon-a is a nationally recognized singer, and I am also a 'true fan' of his, but his recent remarks regarding the impeachment situation are difficult to agree with, no matter how much of a fan I am. In fact, they are deeply concerning."
This was aimed at Na Hoon-a's comment during his '2024 Thank You - Last Concert (LAST CONCERT)' held at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Seoul, the previous day, where he said, "The left is making a fuss, saying the right is wrong. Were you any better?"
During the concert, Na Hoon-a shared an anecdote from his childhood when his mother scolded both him and his older brother whenever they fought, saying, "My mother said brothers should never fight for any reason. I want to ask if your behavior is truly for the country," and he also pointedly remarked, "How happy would Kim Jong-un in the North be?"
In response, Governor Kim said, "Under normal circumstances, saying that the left and right should not fight and should practice a spirit of unity in politics is reasonable and absolutely right, but the illegal emergency martial law incident on December 3rd is a completely different matter," adding, "We almost returned to a time when everything was controlled, like during the military dictatorship of Chun Doo-hwan. That is why Yoon Suk-yeol is now facing impeachment proceedings, and we must never understand the current reality simply as a battle between left and right factions."
He continued, "This issue is not about left or right; it is a significant historical task to restore the fundamentals of the nation and establish justice," and asked, "While the right has problems, if the left is told 'Were you any better?' as a false equivalence, where can we find justice in the Republic of Korea?"
He then requested, "Although Na Hoon-a is like a president of popular culture, I ask him to be more cautious in his remarks when addressing emergency national situations, considering his influence."
Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Won also wrote on Facebook that day, "Na Hoon-a is quite a funny guy. After receiving so much love all his life, if he had kept his eyes closed and mouth shut about world affairs, he should have just quietly left when the time came. What kind of meddling is this?"
