Expanded Saturday hours for those unable to visit on weekdays: open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) has newly introduced an online reservation system to enhance the convenience of using the free metabolic syndrome screening service operated for the prevention and management of chronic diseases among residents.
Metabolic syndrome is a condition where risk factors of lifestyle-related diseases such as abdominal obesity, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia coexist. If left untreated, it increases the risk of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and myocardial infarction, as well as diabetes. Therefore, early detection and proper management of these risk factors are of utmost importance.
Accordingly, Seongdong-gu Public Health Center (10 Majang-ro 23-gil) operates the ‘Metabolic Syndrome Specialized Management Center,’ providing personalized programs including tests related to metabolic syndrome such as blood pressure, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, cholesterol, as well as body composition measurements like muscle mass and body fat.
Starting this year, an online reservation service has been introduced to allow residents to use the metabolic syndrome services more conveniently. Programs can be reserved according to individual schedules through access via QR code.
The operating hours of the ‘Metabolic Syndrome Specialized Management Center’ are weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.), and it is available to all residents aged 20 to 69. If visiting Seongdong-gu Public Health Center is difficult, metabolic syndrome tests can also be taken at Seongsu Health Branch (685-580 Seongsu-dong 1-ga) and Songjeong Health Branch (9 Songjeong 18-ga-gil) after making a prior reservation.
Test results can be checked immediately on-site on the same day, and consultations with doctors and nurses are provided based on the results. Nutritionists and fitness instructors also offer guidance on customized diet management and exercise methods.
To apply for the test, residents can make a prior reservation by phone at the Seongdong-gu Public Health Center Metabolic Syndrome Management Center, and must fast for more than 10 hours before the test.
To improve convenience for residents such as office workers who find it difficult to visit the health center on weekdays, the Metabolic Syndrome Specialized Management Center is also open on Saturdays. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (3 hours) on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, and use is available by prior reservation.
