Suwon Nambu Fire Station Urges Special Caution for Kitchen Fires
The Suwon Southern Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province urged special caution regarding kitchen fires in restaurants on the 8th.
The Suwon Southern Fire Station reported that on the 20th of last month, a fire broke out in the exhaust duct due to overheated cooking oil and thick grease buildup at a restaurant located in Suwon. Two customers used fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Although there were no casualties from the fire, seven fire trucks were dispatched, and property damage worth several million won occurred.
Accordingly, the Suwon Southern Fire Station requested that to prevent hood and duct fires in restaurants, regular cleaning should be performed, the kitchen should not be left unattended during cooking, and the proper oil temperature should be maintained when frying. They also added that K-class fire extinguishers should be kept in the kitchen.
