Teenagers who lured victims through a chat application (app), assaulted them, and then stole money and valuables have been arrested.
According to Yonhap News, the Paju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that they have apprehended and are investigating a total of three suspects: two teenage males and one female, on charges including aggravated robbery and injury.
They are accused of using a chat app the previous night to lure a victim, a man in his 20s identified as Mr. A, assault him, and steal his money and valuables. The group used a young teenage girl, Ms. B, to lure the victim and arranged to meet at an officetel in Paju City.
Then, around 1 a.m. the next day, as Mr. A entered the officetel room, two males attacked him. The group stabbed Mr. A with a weapon, took his cellphone, and threatened him to transfer money to their account.
After confirming that Mr. A had little cash in his account, the group transferred 30,000 won to their account and fled, but were caught by police who responded after a report was filed. Meanwhile, Mr. A is receiving treatment for his stab wounds.
