Gyeonggi-do Cancels 'Sunrise Event' Due to Jeju Air Disaster
Gyeonggi Province has canceled the New Year's sunrise event scheduled for the upcoming year following the government's designation of the period until January 4, next year, as a 'National Mourning Period' in relation to the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province had planned to hold a sunrise event on January 1 around Seojangdae in Suwon City to mark the year 2025, the Year of Eulsa (乙巳年), and the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, with the meaning of moving forward anew for peace and prosperity.

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families through his social media (SNS) on the 29th, stating, "Currently, saving lives is the top priority. Gyeonggi Province will spare no effort in providing all support."
