Seoul Districts Preparing for New Year's Sunrise Event on January 1, 2025, Considering Scaling Down or Cancellation... However, Attention on Whether Quiet Gatherings for Residents to Exchange Well-Wishes and Resolutions Will Proceed on New Year's Day
In the wake of the Muan Airport disaster, it is expected that the New Year's Day sunrise events held by Seoul's autonomous districts will be scaled down or canceled amid a nationwide atmosphere of mourning.
A representative from one of Seoul's autonomous districts stated on the 30th, "With the national mourning period lasting until January 4, it seems unlikely that the New Year's Day sunrise event will proceed as originally planned," adding, "We will send a clarification statement once a decision is made through meetings within the district office."
Another district official also told a reporter in a phone call that morning, "We will assess the situation in other districts during the morning and then make a decision."
