Progressive and Conservative Groups Plan Rallies Starting from the 16th
Following the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol, progressive and conservative civic groups are expected to hold pro- and anti-impeachment rallies respectively starting from the 16th.
The Emergency Action for Yoon Seok-yeol's Immediate Resignation and Social Reform issued a statement immediately after the motion's approval, announcing, "Starting Monday the 16th, we will continue candlelight vigils every day in front of Gwanghwamun." They added, "We urge citizens to join us. This is just the beginning, and we must not let our guard down," and further stated, "On the 21st at 3 p.m., simultaneous candlelight vigils will be held across metropolitan areas nationwide, and a large-scale candlelight rally will be held in front of Gwanghwamun in Seoul."
The progressive-leaning group 'Candlelight Action' also announced that they will gather at City Hall Station on the afternoon of the 15th and march to the Constitutional Court.
On the other hand, the conservative group Korea Rightfully Standing National Movement Headquarters (Daegukbon), which held a rally in front of Donghwa Duty-Free Shop in Jongno-gu on the same day, will continue their rallies. Jeon Gwang-hoon, chairman of Daegukbon, said, "There is a plan to hold a rally at Gwanghwamun on Saturday the 21st as well, so please bring 10 people each."
