National Pukyong National University (President Bae Sang-hoon) held an event to help improve the physical fitness and social adaptation of local protected youth.
On November 30, National Pukyong National University announced on the 4th that it held the "Youth Hope Ladder PKNU Guardians Harmony DAY (2nd) and Mentoring" event at the Daeyeon Campus Grand Sports Field.
This program was organized by PKNU Guardians, a student volunteer group at National Pukyong National University, inviting local protected youth to the campus to participate in sports activities together and support their healthy growth.
On the day, about 60 members including the PKNU student volunteer group and faculty and staff formed teams with about 60 protected youth from the Mansasonyeon Youth Recovery Center to hold sports competitions and mentoring activities.
The participants were mixed into three teams and played games such as soccer, dodgeball, mission running, and relay running, engaging in sports activities and cheering events.
After the sports activities, participants had meals and tea while designating dedicated mentor-mentee pairs for counseling time and communication. They also conducted plogging activities for environmental cleanup around the nearby Yongho Bay reclamation pier area.
Kim Seung-min, a representative of the PKNU student volunteer group and a senior in the Department of Economics, who participated in the event, said, "I was able to get closer by directly interacting with the youth and sharing sincere stories through mentoring activities. I felt great fulfillment thinking that I could contribute even a little to their growth process."
