Busan Gijang-gun, Create Unforgettable Memories with Chilam Port Media Facade
From the 6th, Nighttime Landscape Lighting Pilot Operation Every Friday to Sunday
Busan's Gijang-gun has completed the installation of a media facade (nighttime landscape lighting) around the Chilam Port breakwater and will begin a pilot operation starting from the 6th.
This media facade installation was promoted as part of the ‘Chilam Port Breakwater Coastal Landscape Project.’ This project aims to revitalize the local economy through fishing village development utilizing existing tourist resources, focusing on waterfront landscape improvement and the creation of resident communities.
The Chilam Port media facade is themed ‘Dream of Chilam’ and is composed by linking Chilam Port’s themed lighthouses, such as the unique local tourist attractions Bongjangeo Lighthouse and Seagull Lighthouse.
▲ ‘Harmony,’ where a baseball flying from the Baseball Lighthouse moves across the sea as if it were a playground, bringing vitality to the calm sea ▲ ‘Fantasy,’ expressing the mystery of the sea with mysterious marine creatures and the movement of waves ▲ ‘Growth,’ where lanterns carrying wishes float on the water surface, illuminating the night sea and sky. These themes metaphorically express the vision of ‘Gijang Opening the Future’ while beautifully coloring the night sea of Chilam Port.
The northern breakwater of Chilam Port features trick art that visually extends the blocked horizon using tile attachments and painting, providing distinctive sights both day and night, and is expected to become a new landmark of Gijang-gun.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “I hope many tourists enjoy the beautiful media facade visuals harmonized with Gijang’s pristine sea and create unforgettable memories,” adding, “We will continue to develop tourist resources reflecting local characteristics to promote the revitalization of the local economy.”
