Yangju-si Provides 'Snow Removal Agents for Citizens' During Winter Season
Due to recent abnormal weather, record-breaking snowfall occurring for the first time in 117 years has caused various damages, requiring special attention to prevent safety accidents.
Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 4th that it will provide "citizen-use snow melting agents" during winter as part of the "Snow Removal in Front of My House and Store" safety culture campaign.

However, citizens have expressed inconvenience with regular snow removal activities, citing the time it takes to refill sandbags once depleted and the formation of ice even after snow is cleared in subzero temperatures.
Starting this year, Yangju City has placed 1-ton bags of snow melting agents in each eup, myeon, and dong, allowing citizens to freely take small portions as needed.
Citizens who need snow melting agents can visit any of the 12 eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers within the jurisdiction, and for further inquiries, they can contact their respective administrative welfare centers.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju said, “We prioritize citizens’ safety and are making every effort to create a safe road usage environment and build a safe city,” adding, “We kindly ask citizens to also contribute to making Yangju safe by removing snow in front of their homes and stores.”
