Changwon Special City Holds '2024 Bit-ui Geori' Lighting Ceremony ... Expected to Revitalize Local Economy
Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province successfully held the lighting ceremony for the ‘2024 Changwon City Street of Lights’ at Odongdong Culture Square.
The event, held on the afternoon of the 2nd, was attended by about 200 people including Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, provincial and city council members, and local residents, featuring a variety of cultural performances and a lighting performance.
The event began with a spectacular fire art performance titled ‘Spirit of Fire,’ followed by the main lighting ceremony involving key guests. Afterwards, the male four-member ballad group ‘Espero’ and singer ‘Punch,’ well known for the drama ‘Goblin’ OST, performed celebratory shows that filled the night sky with beautiful melodies. After the official ceremony, busking performances continued, keeping the atmosphere lively until the end.
The ‘2024 Changwon City Street of Lights’ lighting ceremony was more than just turning on lights; it added cultural elements for local residents and tourists to enjoy together, filling the chilly winter night with a warm and exciting festival atmosphere.
Starting with the lighting, the Street of Lights will showcase beautiful nightscapes every night until March 31 next year at six major downtown locations in Changwon City. The areas include ▲Sangnam-dong Fountain Square in Seongsan-gu ▲Yongho-dong Culture Street (Yongji-ro 153beon-gil) ▲Garosu-gil ▲Odongdong Culture Street Square and Changdong Sangsang-gil in Masanhappo-gu ▲Hapseong-dong Shopping Street in Masanhoewon-gu ▲and Jungwon Square in Jinhae-gu.
