It was established to contribute to the full establishment of local autonomy and regional development, and was held on the 28th at the Harmony Hall in KG Tower, Jung-gu, Seoul.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan, who was selected for the individual category basic local government head award on this day, received high praise for enhancing the cultural city brand value through hosting the 2024 World Gwanak Conference, resolving unreasonable overlapping regulations, approving environmental maintenance plans, obtaining UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification, and field-centered citizen communication such as Citizen Empathy Talk Concert and Happy Gwangju Talk Talk.
In particular, his efforts in various areas were recognized, including promoting urban development to improve the quality of administrative services and enhance regional competitiveness, as well as strengthening autonomous capabilities through resident participation.
At the award ceremony, Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, "Gwangju City will do its best to leap forward as the central city of Korea and create a city where all citizens are happy," adding, "I will communicate more with citizens and devise various policies for sustainable development."
