Dongducheon Youth Counseling and Welfare Center Successfully Completes Counselor University Program
The Youth Counseling and Welfare Center of Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi Province (Director Hwang Sang-yeon) announced on the 25th that it has been operating the 2024 Counselor University "Restorative Justice Practitioner" training course to cultivate youth counseling personnel in the local community since February, and has piloted restorative circles for self-help groups and upper-grade elementary school students in the district.

View original imageThis course was promoted to build a pool of human resources to provide youth counseling services in the district, with 25 participants including youth-related agency officials and local parents, and 21 of them completed the course.
The educational content included a basic three-step course on restorative justice practice methods through the restorative justice paradigm. Additionally, among the graduates, 20 voluntarily applied separately for the qualification course, took the education courses from levels 1 to 5, and took the certification exam for the (Restorative Justice Dialogue Meeting Expert Level 2 Qualification Course) hosted by the EduPeace of the Restorative Justice Peace Learning Institute, with 13 passing.

Director Hwang Sang-yeon stated, “The 2024 Counselor University was a more practical time than ever for cultivating and building youth counseling personnel in the local community. It was also a year of practicing restorative justice.” He added, “We plan to operate such youth counseling activist training courses on a mid- to long-term basis in the future.”
