On the 24th (local time), Ukrainian local media RBC Ukraine cited the UK- and Australia-based military specialist media 'Global Defense Corporation,' reporting that on the 20th, the Ukrainian military attacked the Kursk region with Storm Shadow cruise missiles supported by the UK, killing 500 North Korean soldiers and injuring 3. The injured include 2 officers and 1 woman. It was reported that the woman was a medic, but the possibility that she was an interpreter could not be ruled out. The attack also resulted in 18 Russian soldiers killed and 33 wounded.

The Kursk region is known as a gathering place for North Korean troops. On the 20th, the Ukrainian military also launched at least 10 Storm Shadow cruise missiles. It is reported that one high-ranking North Korean general was injured in this attack. Ukraine stated that among the high-ranking North Korean generals dispatched to Russia were Kim Young-bok, Vice Chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Ri Chang-ho, Director of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, and Shin Geum-cheol, Major General of the People's Army.

Recently, the United States lifted restrictions on the use of ATACMS tactical ballistic missiles with a range of about 300 km to Ukraine. This is interpreted as a response to the deployment of North Korean troops to Russia. Following the US, the UK also authorized attacks on Russian mainland using Storm Shadow missiles.
