AhnKook Pharmaceutical Hosts Solo Exhibition of Artist Lee Hyeheon
Anguk Pharm AG Gallery announced that it will hold the exhibition ‘One More Space’ by artist Lee Hyeheon as part of the AG Emerging Artists Continuous Encouragement Project Jujeonjagangseong (主專自强成) - Artist Power Exhibition until November 29.
Sponsored by Anguk Pharm and hosted by the Anguk Cultural Foundation, the AG Emerging Artists Continuous Encouragement Project is an initiative that expands various support opportunities for selected emerging artists each year through an open call, and is a relay exhibition based on ‘1:1 artist consulting.’
The project’s theme, ‘Jujeonjagangseong,’ means the belief that strong growth is achieved through self-effort to develop expertise. It aims to provide professional support within the scope that does not undermine the artist’s autonomy through a program called ‘Artists Ask,’ which is a structure where emerging artists do not remain passive recipients of support but actively request consulting. It is motivation to stimulate voluntary requests and efforts from artists, and the goal is for this to become the true foundation of artist support.
The first artist of this continuous exhibition, consisting of a total of two artists, is Lee Hyeheon with the exhibition ‘One More Space.’
Artist Lee Hyeheon uses the most cutting-edge tools to depict materials and realities of the present and past, while demonstrating free-spirited and clear drawing skills. Through classical painterly parody and retouching, the artist evokes a dreamy retro sensibility within a perfectly composed symmetrical screen layout.

The artist stated, “I gather all the objects surrounding daily life and tell a dreamlike world through my work that crosses the boundary between reality and unreality. Difficulties or discomforts in the real world are often resolved through delusions. In this chaotic era overflowing with constant social issues, unstable daily life leads people to seek an escape. My ideal world, which attempts an escape to a new world, is expressed through characters that originate from personal desires and appear in my works. The composition, filled with preferred subjects by paying homage to classical masterpieces, also represents the spirit of the times and serves as a device to express myself.”
