Naju-si, Full-Scale Promotion of 'Unit Care' Project
Bringing Household Daily Necessities to Facilities
Advanced Elderly Care Services Tailored to Senior Needs
Naju City in Jeollanam-do is set to actively promote the 'Unit Care' project, a pilot program by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
According to the city on the 8th, Unit Care is a project that supports elderly residents in nursing facilities by allowing them to bring personal household items they used at home into the facility, helping them adapt stably in an environment similar to their own home.
In particular, operating 1-2 person rooms protects privacy and allows for more detailed monitoring of individual preferences, cognitive, and health conditions, enabling customized care. Elderly people who have lived alone or in small family units at home often struggle to adapt to communal living with dozens of others in nursing facilities, and this project is expected to resolve such difficulties.
Naju Senior Nursing Home was selected as a pilot project facility through a Ministry of Health and Welfare public contest last July. The facility is a three-story building with a site area of 10,806㎡ (total floor area 3,300㎡), offering more usable space compared to other facilities, making it an optimal environment for project implementation.
The city, together with the nursing home, has expanded bedroom and common living room areas, assigned dedicated nursing aides under a leader-level nursing aide system, and is promoting indoor and outdoor activity programs such as village picnics.
