Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit Peru and Brazil in South America in mid-month to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and the Group of Twenty (G20) summit, respectively, according to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 8th.
On the same day, Hua Chunying, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that President Xi will make a state visit to Peru from the 13th to the 17th and attend the 31st APEC summit held in the capital, Lima.
From the 17th to the 21st, President Xi plans to make a state visit to Brazil and also attend the 19th G20 summit.
Kyodo News reported that there is a possibility of a meeting between President Xi and U.S. President Joe Biden, who is set to retire in January next year, during the APEC and G20 events. According to the media, U.S. officials appear to be coordinating a final summit meeting between President Biden and President Xi, who will be visiting Peru and Brazil next week.
