Gwangju City Holds the 46th Memorial Ceremony for the Unknown Potter's Spirit
On the 7th, Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province held the '46th Memorial Ceremony for the Unknown Potter' in front of the Monument to the Unknown Potter in Ssangryeong-dong.

View original imageAbout 60 people, including members of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, the Pottery Association, and citizens, attended the ceremony to honor the spirits of the unknown potters.
The 'Monument to the Unknown Potter' was established in 1977 to commemorate the craftsmanship and artistic spirit of the potters who produced the highest quality royal white porcelain and led trends at the time, and to carry on their legacy. The monument was created by sculptor Choi Ui-sun with a donation from Lee Hu-rak. The inscription on the monument was written by Hye-gok Choi Soon-woo, former director of the National Museum of Korea, and the calligraphy was done by calligrapher Lee Ki-woo.

We will continue the authenticity so that the craftsmanship of the unknown potters of previous generations can be passed down.”
