The vision declaration ceremony and animation drone show that marked the finale of Alltenga were held on the central stage of Ocheon Green Plaza, designed with the concept of a ‘content gift box.’ The unique stage setup, where the audience seating surrounded the stage 360 degrees instead of facing one direction, captivated everyone’s attention.
The content box filled with creative inspiration and imagination opened, kicking off the grand finale event. Completely breaking away from the traditional rigid format, the event utilized a musical production flow to declare the vision of ‘Suncheon as a global cultural industry mecca.’
The subsequent animation-specialized drone show featuring 2,025 drones embroidered various characters such as Dooly, Magpie, and Finding Wally in the sky, synchronized to their respective OSTs, creating an unprecedented spectacle. The finale event attracted 100,000 spectators, spanning three generations from children to adults, evoking shared memories and emotions.
On this day, Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu, Chairman Kang Hyung-gu of the Suncheon City Council, and Mikael Marin, the general director of the organizing committee that hosts the Annecy International Animation Festival in France, attended. Mikael Marin took the stage and said, “Everything I saw and felt in Suncheon was an incredible experience. It makes me want to visit Suncheon again.”
Chairman Kang Hyung-gu of the Suncheon City Council stated, “The city council will provide full support so that such excellent events can continue in the future.”
Suncheon City transformed cultural content, which could have seemed difficult to approach, into exhibitions and experiential events that anyone in the community could easily enjoy. In addition to B2C events, the business market focused on B2B attracted companies, creating opportunities for mutual growth and development with Suncheon. Notably, the future of the content industry conveyed by writer Yoon Tae-ho and director Eric Oh, along with voices from the field, captivated aspiring animators and writers nationwide.
The city received high praise from visitors for its differentiated charm by gathering various contents such as animation, games, and characters in a garden located in the heart of the city, moving beyond indoor exhibition halls. It was also praised for introducing a new plaza culture where visitors could enjoy diverse content in various forms, including hot air balloons, camp picnics, Catch! Tini Ping Sing-along Show, and animation screenings across the 60,000-pyeong garden.
Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu of Suncheon said, “I am grateful to everyone who came to the first-ever content festival held this year. Since it was the world’s first event attempted in a garden, I was worried, but at the same time, I was confident about the direction of Suncheon’s future,” adding, “We will devote all efforts to creating a cultural industry ecosystem based on the animation cluster project, including education and attracting companies.”
