Nam-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 4th that starting early next year, it will invest approximately 1.2 billion KRW in a sports class voucher project aimed at revitalizing leisure activities for vulnerable children and adolescents as well as people with disabilities.
The district will actively promote the sports class voucher program, which supports monthly tuition fees of up to 100,000 to 110,000 KRW per person to improve the quality of life for children of vulnerable groups and people with disabilities and help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
This project aims to reduce welfare disparities among social members and promote healthy leisure activities. It is supported using local government budgets and the National Sports Promotion Fund. Through the voucher, participants can choose their preferred leisure activities from sports classes such as Taekwondo, archery, boxing, and dancing. The district plans to invest 1,089 million KRW and 141.24 million KRW respectively in the project next year.
The support targets are vulnerable children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 residing in the district and registered people with disabilities aged 5 to 69. For vulnerable groups, support extends to children from households receiving benefits under the Basic Livelihood Security Act, near-poverty households, and children from legally single-parent families.
