Korea Airports Corporation Partners with European Urban V for UAM
Cooperation in UAM Takeoff and Landing Facility 'Vertiport' Sector
Korea Airports Corporation is expanding its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) business by partnering with a European specialized company.
On the 1st, Korea Airports Corporation announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding on mutual cooperation in the construction and operation of vertiports with UrbanV, an Italian company specializing in UAM takeoff and landing facilities, on the 30th of last month.
Accordingly, the two companies plan to promote the commercialization of UAM and seek overseas vertiport business opportunities. The corporation will be responsible for sharing domestic vertiport business information, supporting UAM route design, and finding overseas vertiport business opportunities. UrbanV will share information on the Italian vertiport business and experience in operating joint ventures, and provide consulting support for securing overseas vertiport projects.
Lee Jeong-gi, Acting President of Korea Airports Corporation, said, "The construction and operation of vertiports are essential for the introduction of UAM," adding, "We will work closely with UrbanV to accelerate the commercialization of UAM in Korea and lead the global market."
