Ahn Young-mi Apologizes for 'Live Broadcast Swearing Controversy'
"I Will Use Appropriate Broadcast Language"
"Bitter Words Needed Sometimes... Mockery Also Welcome"
Comedian Ahn Young-mi apologized after causing controversy by uttering profanity during a live radio broadcast, saying she would use appropriate broadcasting language.
On the 30th, on MBC FM4U’s "2 O’Clock Date with Ahn Young-mi," Ahn said, "It seems some people were surprised by my inappropriate language used during yesterday’s broadcast," and added, "I want to apologize and offer my sincere apologies." She continued, "As a DJ at this time slot, I will entertain you with appropriate broadcasting language. I will make it enjoyable."
Ahn Young-mi said, "If you only listen to what you want to hear and only watch what you want to see, and keep only people who say nice things around you, it feels like becoming the emperor with no clothes. I think harsh words can be good too," but added, "If you only say harsh words, it might be a bit much. Please mix in some sweet words occasionally to make it tasteful." She then said, "'2 O’Clock Date' even welcomes mockery. This is a resting place for mockers."
Earlier, on the 29th, Ahn Young-mi faced public criticism for swearing during a live broadcast. At the time, she asked The Boyz’s Sunwoo, who appeared as a guest, "What do you do when fans make requests during a live broadcast?" After hearing his answer, she suddenly swore, saying, "Do you say 'ssiX' behind their backs after fulfilling fans’ requests?"
Ahn immediately tried to recover by saying, "I meant ‘shoes, shoes’," but public opinion remained cold. After the broadcast, netizens criticized her with comments such as, "Does she think this is a joke?" "There are too many controversies. Please be careful," "Not funny at all and uncomfortable. Please understand the times," "So rude to a guest," and "How much must she swear in daily life?"
