Gyeonggi-do Outdoor Library Reading Culture Festa Concludes Successfully... Over 8,200 Visitors
Provincial Market, Cultural Arts Performances, and Reading Event at Gyeonggi Peace Plaza
The 'Gyeonggi-do Outdoor Library Reading Culture Festa,' held at Gyeonggi Peace Square inside the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building from the 20th to the 26th of last month, concluded with 8,264 visitors.
According to Gyeonggi-do on the 28th, this festa consisted of three main events: the 'Reading Gyeonggi Peace Square' providing an outdoor library space, 'Cultural and Artistic Performances,' and the 'Citizen Market.'
Notably, participation from culturally marginalized groups and artists with disabilities stood out, including the 6th-grade Class 1 choir from Saemal Elementary School and the choir group Einsbaum Wind Chamber. Additionally, the Gyeonggi RE100 experience event, themed around eco-friendly activities such as making eco-bags, shampoo bars, and illustrated postcards, was a distinctive feature.
The 'Reading Gyeonggi Peace Square' event, offering citizens a unique outdoor library space, was held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from the 20th to the 26th of last month. Unlike last year, when it was operated for only two days, this year it ran for over a month, providing citizens with a resting space within the city. In particular, the 'Reading Golden Bell' program and the 'Woodworking Play Experience' held on the 28th of last month received great support.
The 'Cultural and Artistic Performances,' involving a total of 24 teams including local art groups, artists, and clubs, took place every Saturday from August 31st to the 26th of last month, showcasing a variety of performances from classical music to dance. Unlike last year, which mainly featured busking performances, this year highlighted unique performances by Northern Gyeonggi art groups such as the Yeoncheon Paleolithic Performance and the Namyangju branch of the Korea Dance Association, presenting the diverse culture of the northern Gyeonggi region.
The 'Citizen Market,' which provided booths for small business owners in Northern Gyeonggi and a citizen flea market, was held every Saturday and Sunday from the 21st to the 29th of last month. This year, the Gyeonggi RE100 experience event, themed around eco-friendly activities such as making eco-bags, shampoo bars, and illustrated postcards, stood out.
