Promises on Human Resource Development and Personnel Exchange
National Mokpo University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for joint cooperation with KEPCO KPS.
On the 23rd, National Mokpo University announced that it signed an MOU for joint cooperation with KEPCO KPS at KEPCO KPS headquarters in Naju on the 21st.
The signing ceremony was attended by Song Hacheol, President of National Mokpo University, Kim Hongyeon, President of KEPCO KPS, key officials from both institutions, and KEPCO KPS employees. They agreed to establish an organic cooperative relationship in areas such as nurturing technical talents in nuclear power and conducting R&D (research and development).
Going forward, National Mokpo University and KEPCO KPS will closely cooperate in ▲overseas nuclear power plant exports and nurturing nuclear maintenance personnel ▲personnel exchanges for power facility diagnostics and research ▲development of diagnostic and maintenance technologies for offshore wind power components ▲development of commercialization technologies for SMR ships.
President Song said, “National Mokpo University has been striving for over 20 years to develop specialized capabilities in the marine and energy industries of the southwestern region, and having been selected as a Glocal University, plans to promote the development of offshore wind power and SMR ship technologies linked to energy policies such as decarbonization and digital transformation.” He added, “Cooperation with KEPCO KPS, which possesses the world’s best power facility maintenance technology, will be a great opportunity to nurture global talents in the energy sector.”
President Kim stated, “We will actively cooperate in strengthening R&D capabilities in the eco-friendly carbon-free energy sector, jointly utilizing infrastructure for foundational development, and nurturing global core talents in nuclear maintenance.” He added, “We expect that practical cooperation between the two institutions will create new growth engines in renewable energy business areas such as SMR and offshore wind power.”

National Mokpo University was selected as a Glocal University in August and is actively promoting the establishment of a cooperative system to build a research foundation for core fields such as carbon-free ships and SMR ships.
