Police Chief: "On-Site Perception of Research Outcomes is Important"
The Police University Institute of Security Policy announced on the 23rd that it held the ‘2024 Second Half Academic Conference’ at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
This academic conference was organized to discuss research methods aimed at solving field issues that help practitioners on site through communication between researchers and practitioners.
The Police University Institute of Security Policy expanded its organization with the establishment of the Science and Technology Research Department in 2015, the Smart Security Intelligence Center and the International Police Knowledge Center in 2018. Additionally, it developed the ‘Citizen Conan’ app for detecting malicious telephone financial fraud applications in 2021 and the AI-based Number Plate Detection and Recognition system (NPDR) in 2022. Furthermore, in September 2022, it was recognized as a ‘KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme) Internationally Accredited Testing Institution,’ solidifying its position as the only specialized research institution in the security field in Korea.
Lee In-sang, head of the Institute of Security Policy, emphasized, “If a new breakthrough is made by integrating research and practice to solve problems in the security field, it will greatly contribute to establishing a security system that the public can trust.”
