Democratic Party: "Uncommunicative Meeting with President Yoon... Han Dong-hoon Must Make a Decision"
Cho Seung-rae, Senior Spokesperson of the Democratic Party Briefing
"Ends Without Results... Ignoring Public Expectations"
The Democratic Party of Korea on the 21st dismissed the meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Representative Han Dong-hoon as "a closed-door meeting that made not a single step forward on the issue of First Lady Kim Geon-hee."
Cho Seung-rae, the senior spokesperson for the Democratic Party, held a briefing at the National Assembly communication office on the same day and stated, "Today's meeting ended without any achievements. Even the last hope of the people focused on the meeting between the President and the ruling party leader was coldly ignored."
When asked by reporters about President Yoon's response to Representative Han's proposals, Cho criticized Park Jeong-ha, the secretary to the People Power Party, for saying "Go report from Yongsan" and remaining silent.
He said, "It can only be concluded that Representative Han achieved nothing from President Yoon," adding, "The meeting between the two can only be judged as a closed-door meeting that made not a single step forward on the issue of First Lady Kim Geon-hee."
He continued, "President Yoon appeared to be bracing himself as if to hold someone accountable. The president's attitude of not listening at all to the voice of the people is despairing," and criticized, "Despite numerous suspicions ranging from stock manipulation, public opinion manipulation, interference in candidate selection, to state affairs mismanagement, he is solely trying to protect the First Lady."
He raised his voice, saying, "The public's will to apply equality before the law to the accused First Lady was thoroughly rejected," and warned, "They will clearly realize what kind of judgment will come when they pour oil on the boiling public sentiment."
Senior spokesperson Cho addressed Representative Han, saying, "The only remaining decision is whether to perish together with President Yoon," and emphasized, "If until now it was a time to wait for the decisions of President Yoon and the First Lady Kim, now it is time for Representative Han Dong-hoon himself to make a decision."
