Gyeonggi-do Pays 'Susan Gongik Direct Payment' to 453 Recipients
Gyeonggi Province has selected 453 recipients for the ‘Fisheries Public Interest Direct Payment’ program.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that, after verifying eligibility such as fishing income, it has finalized a total of 453 recipients for the direct payment program by November, including 90 people from disadvantaged areas, 331 small-scale fishery households, and 32 crew members.
The Fisheries Public Interest Direct Payment system is designed to provide direct payments to stabilize fishermen’s income and strengthen the public interest functions in the fisheries and fishing village sectors. From this year, the support amount for small-scale fishery households and crew members has been adjusted to 1.3 million KRW, an increase of 100,000 KRW from last year’s 1.2 million KRW.
Introduced for the first time last year, the small-scale fishery household direct payment system supports small-scale fishery households to reduce income disparities among fishermen. This year, demand increased, resulting in 331 recipients, a 32% increase compared to 250 last year.
The eligibility for small-scale fishery household direct payments includes fishermen registered as fishery business operators who have maintained the relevant fishery for more than three years with a certain scale of management, such as residing in fishing village areas designated by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, owning fishing vessels under 5 tons, or having aquaculture product sales under 100 million KRW.
