Pukyong National University Selects 39 Researchers Among the World's Top 2%

Research Impact Based on Paper Citation Counts
National Pukyong University (President Jang Young-su) has been recognized for its world-class research capabilities, with 39 researchers selected this year as part of the ‘Top 2% Researchers Worldwide’ announced by the global academic publisher Elsevier and Stanford University in the United States.
Elsevier and Stanford University annually select and announce the ‘Top 2% Worldwide’ based on research impact measured by citation counts of papers indexed in SCOPUS, a citation index for excellent papers, targeting researchers worldwide who have published five or more papers in 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.
National Pukyong University placed a total of 39 researchers on this year’s list, including those selected under both lifetime achievement criteria and annual criteria.
Under the lifetime achievement criteria, 20 researchers were selected: Jung Wan-young, Choi Jae-soo, Lee Seung-hoon, Je Jae-young, Seo Hyo-jin, Jung Gwi-taek, Yang Bo-seok, Kim Jeong-hwan, Bae Seung-chul, Park Jin-han, Kang Hyun-wook, Jung Won-kyo, Hong Ji-sang, Jang Byung-yong, Kwak Jae-seop, Choi Yo-sun, Kim Young-han, Ahmad Rafiq, Kim Jeong-tae, and Jeon Seong-jeup.
For the year 2023, 35 researchers were selected: Choi Yo-sun, Choi Jae-soo, Jung Woon-joo, Ahmad Rafiq, Kang Hyun-wook, Je Jae-young, Chae Soo-jong, Park Sol-moe, Jung Wan-young, Jung Gwi-taek, Jung Won-kyo, Sudip Mondal, Jang Byung-yong, Kim Jeong-hwan, Fazlurrahman Khan, Jeon Byung-soo, Kim Jeong-tae, Bae Jae-woong, Yang Bo-seok, Oh Jeong-hwan, Iman Gholamali, Bae Seung-chul, Seo Hyo-jin, Park Sung-heum, Park Jin-han, Lee Seung-hoon, Jo Nak-eun, Duraiarasan Surendhiran, Kim Young-mok, Lee Song-yi, Bui The Huy, Kim Do-hyung, Lee Ji-yeol, Park Se-jung, and Kim Hyun-sung.

National Pukyong University was recognized for its excellent research capabilities and research support achievements, having the highest research funding per full-time faculty member in the Busan area according to last year’s University Alimi disclosure, and receiving an A grade in the 2023 Research Support System Evaluation by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Planning and Evaluation.
