TJ Media "Renovated Old Songs Receive Praise from 4050 Generation"
TJ Media announced that BTOB member Lee Changsub's "Cheonsangyeon" has held the number one spot on the karaoke popularity chart for six months. Lee Changsub's "Cheonsangyeon" is a remake of the song originally released by the male duo Can in 1998, and it has consistently remained in the top ranks of the karaoke popularity chart since its release.
As the remake gained popularity, the original song "Cheonsangyeon" by Can also saw its average monthly play count increase more than fourfold compared to last year. This is an example of how the original song regains attention following the release of a remake. TJ Media explained that the reason people can still enjoy the song with clear sound quality even after more than a decade since the original release is the result of continuous content enhancement.
TJ Media has been investing heavily for the past seven years in a "content renovation" process that adapts songs produced for past sound environments to current conditions. They started with popular songs frequently requested by adult users.
