Gijang-gun Launches Campaign to Promote Children's Traffic Safety and Use of Public Transportation
Over 50 People Including Governor Jeong Jongbok Urge Public Interest
On the 10th, Gijang-gun in Busan held a promotional campaign for children's traffic safety and the revitalization of public transportation use at the intersection in front of Sinjeong Elementary School in Jeonggwan-eup.
This event was conducted as a joint campaign with related organizations, and was attended by about 50 people including Gijang-gun Mayor Jeong Jongbok, Haeundae Office of Education Superintendent Park Jihoon, Gijang Police Station, Model Drivers’ Association, Green Mothers’ Association, Gijang Saemaeul Association, and officials from Sinjeong Elementary School.
The county conducted the campaign at the intersection, which sees heavy traffic during school and work commuting hours, and called for citizens' active interest in children's traffic safety and the use of public transportation.
Promotional materials were distributed to students and residents to encourage compliance with traffic laws and to raise safety awareness, with a focus on pedestrian safety rules and the obligation for drivers to make a complete stop at crosswalks in children's protection zones.

Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, "I hope this campaign serves as an opportunity for citizens to recognize the importance of public transportation," and added, "We will support the establishment of a more mature traffic culture through promoting public transportation use and traffic safety practices."
