Southeast Region DX Demand Companies Digital Innovation Cooperation Event

AI-Based Autonomous Manufacturing Technology Sharing, Win-Win Bridging

The Startup Support Group at Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon), which is carrying out the Startup-Centered University Project, held the '2nd Smart Manufacturing R&D DX Convergence Forum' over two days on the 5th and 6th at the Sky Park Hotel seminar room in Daejeon and at the Hansol Paper Daejeon Plant.

The forum was organized to promote digital co-prosperity growth through bridging between companies and to establish a digital transformation (DX) bridging support system that integrates regional innovation institutions. Bridging refers to serving as a link between institutions with DX demand and supply.

It was also held to address the digital divide between regions by sharing AI-based DX technologies and on-site experiences of metropolitan and large enterprises with DX demand companies in the Southeastern region, based on the Busan DX Council.

On the first day of the forum, under the theme of 'AI-Based Autonomous Manufacturing,' DX support institutions at the forefront of advanced technology shared their technologies, introduced successful DX innovation cases, and explored industry-academia cooperation strategies.

On the second day, participants toured the AI-based MES manufacturing site at Hansol Paper's Daejeon Plant and discussed the regional DX innovation outcomes pursued by the council through bridging for co-prosperity among large, small, and startup companies.

Through this forum, startups, ventures, SMEs, and large companies with DX supply and demand in the region shared experiences in smart manufacturing R&D, supported the establishment of knowledge strategies and understanding of corporate DX in the field, and provided digital transformation solutions.

The 'Busan Digital Transformation Council,' launched in June this year, is a consortium of regional innovation institutions for the digital innovation of local industries. It consists of five organizations: the Pusan National University Startup Support Group, Pusan National University Technology Holdings, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam Branch, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Busan Regional Headquarters, and the Busan Venture Business Association.

The council, including this forum, has continuously conducted DX-specialized programs to resolve the difficulties of DX demand companies, such as holding two DX forums in 2024 (June and September), DX practitioner training (July), and DX company visits (September), laying the foundation for solutions to the digital divide. Going forward, the council aims to establish a DX bridging model and grow into the region's leading digital innovation consortium, with the goal of creating successful DX cases in the Southeastern region's industries.
