On July 18, the city signed an MOU with Gyeongbuk Province and Korea National Oil Corporation for 'East Sea Deepwater Gas Field Development and Regional Development Cooperation,' and agreed to establish a KNOC field office in Pohang to ensure smooth communication and mutual growth.
As the first step in implementing this agreement, Korea National Oil Corporation opened the 'Mutual Development Cooperation Center' as a field office concept in the basement level of the City Hall Council Building, initiating full-scale consultations and local communication.
The Cooperation Center will serve as a field office to gather opinions on current issues related to the East Sea Deepwater Gas Field development and to seek ways to collaborate for regional growth.
Two to four employees from the KNOC headquarters will operate the center on a rotational basis, with team-specific workdays assigned.
To promote local co-prosperity activities, the corporation plans to actively collaborate with Pohang City and Gyeongbuk Province, and will flexibly add personnel as new issues and matters arise.
Most importantly, the Mutual Development Cooperation Center is expected to play a pivotal role in actively communicating and proactively resolving civil complaints related to the success of the East Sea Deepwater Gas Field development, revitalization of Yeongilman Port, earthquake issues in Pohang, and fisheries rights compensation.
At the ceremony, Korea National Oil Corporation donated 10 million won to support the energy-vulnerable groups in the Pohang area.
