The "41st National Disabled Skills Competition" opens on the 3rd and will be held until the 6th at four locations including the Grand Plaza Cheongju Hotel and Cheongju University Seokwoo Culture and Sports Center in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do.
Hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Chungbuk Province, and organized by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled and the Korea Disabled Employment Stability Association, this competition features 432 representative athletes from 17 cities and provinces nationwide competing in 40 occupational categories.
Winners will receive awards along with prize money up to 12 million KRW (for the gold medal in regular categories). They will also benefit from exemptions on the written and practical tests for the national technical qualification of the relevant occupation for two years. Additionally, they gain eligibility to participate in the selection for the national team of the 11th International Abilympics.
Outstanding disabled skilled workers produced through previous Disabled Skills Competitions have been fulfilling their roles as members of the industrial workforce. The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to strengthen related support to enable more disabled individuals to maintain stable employment in the future.
